SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, February 19, 2013 – A national organization representing the interests of Latinos in business is the latest in a growing number of strategic partners of Innovation Economy Expo, which is taking place on May 9, at the Ontario Convention Center in Southern California.

The Latino Coalition (TLC) has become one of the most effective and respected national groups addressing issues that directly impact Hispanic owned businesses through aggressive issue advocacy campaigns, legislative initiatives and endorsements. TLC operates nationally with offices in Southern California and Washington DC as well as internationally with offices in Mexico, which serve as portals for trade opportunities in Latin American markets.

Innovation Economy Expo is a day-long crowd-driven forum that provides local businesses with the resources needed for growth in a new innovative global economy.

“We are proud to be a strategic partner of this collaborative effort,” said Allen Gutierrez, National Executive Director of The Latino Coalition. “We recognize the growth opportunities for small businesses in the global economy and look forward to our members participating in the advancement of this very important cause.”

The Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity shows Hispanics accounted for as much as 23 percent of new entrepreneurs in 2011. Within a few years, Latino purchasing power will surpass $1 trillion annually as their influence in business continues to climb.

“Small business growth is what drives the U.S. economy, but high-growth business is what creates the jobs and wealth needed for a sustainable economy,” said Adalberto Quijada, District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration. “Innovation Economy Expo is bringing innovators and entrepreneurs together with those who provide the resources needed for high-growth business success at a time when it is needed the most.” Quijada also serves as a member of Innovation Economy Expo Advisory Committee.

Innovators, entrepreneurs encouraged to attend Innovation Economy Expo to meet national expert, Douglas Ellenoff, and learn how crowdfunding is changing startup businesses in America.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, February 7, 2013 – One of the nation’s leading experts on crowdfunding will explain how these collective investment pools are changing the landscape of America’s high-growth startup companies in a presentation at Innovation Economy Expo, May 9, 2013 at the Ontario Convention Center in Southern California.

Douglas Ellenoff, a partner with the New York City based law firm Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP, says, new changes in legislation are making it easier for communities to support their own initiatives.

His presentation, How and Why Crowdfunding is Changing the Game for Startup Businesses in America, is one of several key presentations scheduled for the Innovation Economy Expo. Visit www.innovationeconomyexpo.com for details.

“As a general observation, crowdfunding will enable communities to support their own entrepreneurs, and what could be more important than that?” said Ellenoff. “While institutional funds may chase opportunities in larger urban centers, the Crowd can keep their capital local.”

The number of annual crowdfunding transactions has been rapidly growing and are expected to soar in 2013 to an estimated $500 billion compared to $3 billion in 2012, due in part to the JOBS Act (Jumpstart Our Business Startups) adopted in 2012.

The law allows a new registration exemption for companies raising crowdfunded financing, allowing them raise up to $1 million within a 12-month period without registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ellenoff is a corporate and securities attorney specializing in corporate financing, representing venture capital investor groups and companies involved in raising capital for growth.

He joins a growing list of international business experts scheduled to take part in the daylong event, which will include:

All who are interested in advancing the economic and social benefits of high-growth business success are encouraged to participate.
